What is Akagram?

Akagram is a light-up logic puzzle. You place bulbs on open cells. Walls already on the board block light, and some of those walls carry a number. Each row and each column also shows how many bulbs it must contain.

Nikoli publishes a related bulb puzzle as Akari. Akagram adds row and column counts and uses its own boards. The Akari rules are on Nikoli’s Akari page.

Before You Start Today’s Board

A finished Akagram board meets all of these rules:

• A bulb lights up, down, left and right through open cells, and stops at a wall.
• Two bulbs cannot see each other. A wall between them blocks that line of sight.
• Every open cell must be lit by at least one bulb.
• A number on a wall is how many bulbs sit on its up, down, left and right edges. A blank wall does not give that count.
• The number at the end of a row or column is how many bulbs belong in that line.

Daily Akagram: Three Core Puzzles and Two Bonuses

Each published UTC date has a shared set of five boards. Start with a 6×6 puzzle, then solve two 8×8 core boards in order. Completing the core set unlocks the option to continue with two 10×10 bonus boards. The bonus pair is optional: finishing the three core puzzles is a natural stopping point for the day.

The daily set moves from 6×6 to 8×8, with 10×10 boards reserved for the bonuses. These dimensions include walls as well as open cells. Bigger does not automatically mean harder: the wall layout and available deductions matter. To practise a particular size outside the daily sequence, use the links below.

Choose whether to continue. After the third core puzzle, you can finish for the day or open the two bonus boards. The daily timer records your play time rather than counting down toward a deadline.
